CASE STUDY

Implementation of Dedicated Weekend Hygiene

Overview

In response to a key customer’s strategic initiative to expand production capacity, QHS was commissioned to design and implement a dedicated weekend hygiene operation. The objective was clear: establish a reliable hygiene function over the weekend to ensure all equipment and processing areas were thoroughly cleaned and ready for operation every Monday. This initiative was instrumental in enabling the customer to extend production hours, increase output, and drive sales growth—without compromising hygiene standards.

The Challenge

To meet the customer’s expansion goals, several critical challenges had to be addressed:

Weekend Operations Requirement: A dedicated hygiene function was needed outside of standard weekday operations to avoid disrupting existing workflows.

Tight Implementation Timeline: The project had a fixed deadline, with no flexibility for delays, requiring precise planning and seamless execution.

Maintaining High Standards: All cleaning activities needed to align with rigorous food industry hygiene standards, ensuring compliance and readiness for production.

Our Solution

QHS responded quickly and effectively, leveraging its recruitment, operational, and technical expertise to implement a comprehensive hygiene solution:

  • Team Mobilisation: A complete weekend hygiene team was assembled, including a Site Hygiene Manager, Hygiene Supervisor, and a trained team of Hygiene Operatives.
  • Induction & Training: All personnel underwent full site-specific inductions and were trained to QHS’s stringent hygiene protocols, ensuring consistency and competency from day one.
  • Structured Roll-Out: A detailed training programme was developed to align all team members with operational expectations, site procedures, and hygiene standards.
  • Enhanced Go-Live Support: Supplementary experienced operatives were deployed to support initial operations.
On-site hygiene equipment was provided and tested to ensure operational readiness.
Director-level oversight and attendance ensured real-time decision-making and smooth integration during the go-live weekend.

Outcome

Seamless Launch: The weekend hygiene team was fully operational in time for the go-live date, with no disruption to the site’s Monday production start-up.

Operational Integration: The new team integrated successfully into existing site operations and quickly became a dependable part of the site’s production infrastructure.
